Keeping my fingers and mind occupied

Been busy whilst waiting around hospital for John. 1 aran throw, 1 baby blanket and a SIBOL blanket for Mrs Twins. Also made the bits for 12 mousies - to be finished asap as a mission for some dear friends, 8 premmie hats, a sushi loo roll cover and lots of other bits and bobs all since New Years day.

My frugal living personal challenge is going well and am making full use of the full pantry, making cakes and meals. I have also used my de-hydrator a lot and have dried lots of veg before it goes rubbery and also giving me more space in the freezers.

So far a very productive year. Apart from keeping my daily journal I have also started a log book of everything I craft so I can see at a glance how I am doing. I am just looking forward to getting my new plastic walk in greenhouse into production.

Recently I found a local proffessional gardener through freecycle who was giving away plant pots, nice chap who quite happily gave me lots of pots. So when I looked at my huge privet hedges I suddenly thought why not pay for him to cut them back instead of expending a massive amount of energy and time doing them myself. 2 days later bobs your auntie and I have a lot more light in the living room plus a daunting task accomplished!

  Bethany went for a wander with Grandad the other day and they had a fabulous time. Dont know which of them was most tired lol.  So much needs doing and Im struggling with my mobility. Thank goodness my frozen shoulder has finally defrosted or I really would be struggling. I invested in a cheap trail camera, and with Michaels help took 3000 photos of the living room ceiling. It was hilarious! Followed by 200 of the top of my head over the sewing machine after he went home. Above is an actual photo of the bird feeders but I hadnt got the hang of placement then.   This wee one Lady Lily Bud is coming on in leaps and bounds. I havent seen her much as her and Mummy are enjoying baby groups and visiting friends after or year in the wilderness. I have a pile of things to finish on my work table so Must get on with it. February slid calmly in

January was an excellent month for me, picked up a big bolt of fabric from a charity shop and have now covered the dining chairs in it. I recovered them a couple of years ago and Beth was drawing a face on a felt gingerbread man for me and practiced on the chair first - I couldn't be mad as she made a good job of it. They have got very grubby from little peoples shoes and hands, paint and felt tip. It only took 3/4 of an hour to cover 3 chairs. The other bargain was a copy of a vintage phone for £5 from Emmaus. I have been buying a cheap landline phone with monotonous regularity as they break. The last on had too short a cable and the coiled part tangled up all the time. It really was the handset from hell! The new one is perfect and very well behaved, it stays where you put it and doesn't tangle. I am on a spending freeze now and very determined to sell all the stuff laying around, I made a start and sold a book today.

Here is the update of Mums lockdown doll. She has pockets to put your sewing tools in. Im having issues with her stuffing at the moment and need to make her less wobbly/ I have had plenty of practice with toy making but never with one thats weighted with re-cycled poly pellets. This sleepy Princess Bethany is all worn out from crafting with Grandma. She has the most amazing ability to see ideas for stamping and card making and we havent a clue how she knows. She will go far.  Other than crafting a few few trips out mostly for necessities its mostly groundhogs days here ( as my darling sister by another Mother says) Get up, get through the day, go to bed and repeat. It could be worse so count my blessings. Our extended family has lost 2 members to cancer this week. One very sudden and one expected but none the less difficult for all to comprehend.
